How to Treat Your Wooden Floor with Vinnie's Oil Hard Wax Oil: A Step-by-Step Guide


Give your wooden floor a new lease on life with Vinnie's Oil hard wax oils

Vinnie's Oil hard wax oil is a popular choice for treating and protecting wooden floors and renew old wooden floors. It combines the best of both worlds – the deep penetration of polymerizing wood oil and the protective surface of pure waxes controlled for toxins and purity. The result is a floor that is both naturaly beautiful and very durable.

What you'll need

* Winnie's Oil UPO (and wax if you want to wax it) or Vinnie's Oil Universal as monocoat.

* Soft cloth or pad

* Gloves

* Masking tape


How to do it




* Prepare the floor:


* Clean: Ensure the floor is clean and dry. Vacuum thoroughly and wipe with a damp cloth.

* Sand (if necessary): If the floor is worn or has an old treatment, it may need to be sanded. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for sanding.

* Mask: Cover areas that are not to be treated with masking tape, such as baseboards and skirting boards.

* Apply the oil:

* Thin coats: Pour a small amount of oil onto a soft cloth and apply in thin, even coats. Too much oil can cause stains and a long drying time. Wait for 2 hours and polish after every coat.

* Work in sections: Treat a smaller area at a time to avoid the oil drying before you've spread it.

* Rub in: Work the oil into the wood with circular motions. Ensure the entire surface is covered.

* Let it dry:

* Drying time: Allow the oil to dry according to the instructions. Open a window for good ventilation is not necessary beacuse its 100% non toxic, but a little ventiltion will help the oils cure faster.

* Avoid walking: Avoid walking on the treated floor during the drying time.

* Second coat:

* Repeat: Apply a second coat of oil after the first coat has dried completely. This provides deeper protection and a richer color.


Let the last treatment cure for at least 3 days before walking on the floor. If you like a more satin finish but still keep its natural appearence, you can also wax it with Vinnie's Wax. The hardest Top Wax on the market. A thin layer and polish. (optional)


Maintenance


* Regular cleaning: Vacuum regularly and wipe up spills immediately.

* Maintenance treatment: Every year or two, depending on wear and tear, you should treat the floor with a maintenance product for hard wax oil. This will replenish the oils and protect the surface.


Tips and advice

* Test on a small area: Always test the oil on a small, inconspicuous area first to see how the wood reacts and what color it becomes.

* Protective gloves: Always wear protective gloves when applying the oil.

* Natural ventilation: Ensure the room is well-ventilated during and after treatment.

* Avoid moisture: Avoid exposing the newly treated floor to large amounts of water for the first few days.
